Roberts Travel Group is launching a competition in which the public will get chance to name its latest coach.
The Leicestershire-based operator is marking its 30th anniversary this year by offering a day trip for two to the competition entrant whose name is chosen.
Part of the panel choosing from the names put forward will be Elton Dean, who will drive the Mercedes-Benz Tourismo that was added to the fleet last month.
Elton, who has been with Roberts Travel Group for 13 years, always has a name for the coaches he drives, including “Sharon”, which is long-established on the roads of Leicestershire and further afield.
Elton says of naming coaches: “It makes the coach feel like a real part of the team. Sharon has been with me for some brilliant adventures over the years – school trips, seaside holidays, theatre days, you name it – and I’ve had the pleasure of meeting thousands of wonderful passengers along the way.
“But now it’s time for a fresh start, and I’d love the next name to come from someone in the community.
“It would mean a lot to know that the name on the front came from the people I’ve shared so many miles and memories with.”
