The Ready Group, which owns coach operations Readybus, Arena Travel, Turbostyle Coaches and LJ Edwards, is to install Alcolock ignition interlock devices across its entire fleet.
The device ensures the vehicle’s engine will only start after the driver has provided a breath sample with blood alcohol content below a certain level. It is built to withstand harsh conditions from vibrations to dirt.
Alcolock is produced by Alcohol Countermeasure Systems Inc, which has been serving the market since 1976 and has a team of more than 150 industry experts.
The Ready Group, which operates its luxury coach hire services out of London and the South East, says the move demonstrates its commitment to the safety of passengers and other road users.
Matt Clayson, Managing Director of The Ready Group, says: “Safety is paramount at Ready Group, and the incorporation of Alcolock ignition interlock devices underscores our dedication to fostering a secure environment for both our drivers and the communities we serve.
“This proactive step sets a precedent for responsible driving practices within the transportation industry. We eagerly anticipate the widespread rollout of this pioneering technology across our entire fleet.”
