Apple Travel of Maidenhead has taken delivery of a pair of Volvo B8Rs with Plaxton Panther bodywork, supplied by Alexander Dennis.
One seats 59 passengers and the other 61. They are both to PSVAR ready specification, including an additional door already present on the nearside, and join two similar Panthers from 2021 and 2022. The newcomers each have a cherished registration mark.
Several Plaxton Leopards are also present in the Apple Travel fleet and the Berkshire operator has ordered a further, 72-seat example for delivery in 2024.
Speaking about the new deliveries, Directors Joel and Sam Sweeney comment: “We are delighted to continue to invest for our customers by further upgrading our fleet.
“Plaxton coaches are the backbone of our operation thanks to specifications that are exactly matched to our requirements for a variety of work, and the excellent support we get from Regional Sales Manager Mark Taylor and the whole Alexander Dennis and Plaxton team.”
While inspecting the new coaches at Plaxton’s Scarborough plant, the Sweeneys were joined by daughter Millie.
Adds Mr Taylor: “It is a joy working with family businesses like Apple Travel, and it is great to see the next generation of Sweeneys already taking an interest with Millie joining us in Scarborough.
“These new Panther coaches will be a real boost for the Apple Travel fleet, and I look forward to building on that next year with another Plaxton Leopard.”
