The National Final of the UK Bus Driver of the Year (BDoY) Competition is in Blackpool on 3 September and entries are invited from operators large and small.

BDoY Chairman Joe Mackie says: “We are particularly keen to have more entries from the municipal and independent sectors as they are under-represented.

“The National Final is a fantastic place for operators of all sizes to showcase their drivers’ skills and especially their commitment to excellent customer service.”

The 2016 National Final marked 50 years of BDoY, first run in 1967 as a local contest in Coventry and subsequently grew into a national event.

Last year’s overall winner, and Bus Driver of the Year 2016, was Craig Lockyer from National Express West Midlands who was up against 113 other drivers employed by all the major bus groups, municipal operators and smaller companies.
