A bus driver has been jailed for 60 months after pleading guilty to fraud and theft from Rotala, trading as Diamond Bus in Redditch.
Worcester Crown Court heard that Leovon Domain, also known as Mohammed Daoud, 27, of Chatham Court, Northfield, Birmingham lied to get the job in 2016, which he held for two months.
The firm noticed anomalies in his takings. When confronted, he refused to hand over his day’s takings and left with the money. He said he would return later in the day, but failed to and he was sacked.
Mr Domain, who has a number of aliases, was prosecuted for theft of £2,226.
It later emerged that he had a number of previous convictions, which “surprised Rotala because one of his references was from the police and crime commissioner.”
Mr Domain had a suspended sentence for fraud in November 2010 after defrauding Selfridges of £19,000.
After he left Rotala he appeared in court for making a false representation to obtain car insurance and appeared again for possession of cannabis, resulting in a conditional discharge.
