Stagecoach South has introduced a £1 single fare on main Andover town bus routes thanks to funding from Hampshire County Council’s Bus Service Improvement Plan (BSIP).
The reduced fare began today (27 January) for services 1, 2, 3 and 4 and will remain in place until Easter Monday (21 April).
Hampshire County Council has identified Andover as an area with potential for bus patronage growth.
Mark Jackson, Andover Operations Manager for Stagecoach South, says: “This initiative highlights our commitment to providing affordable and convenient travel options for the Andover community.
“By offering £1 single fares, we hope to encourage more people to discover the benefits of bus travel while supporting sustainable transport in the area.”
Councillor Kirsty North, Hampshire County Council’s Cabinet Lead for Universal Services, says: “We are pleased to partner with Stagecoach on this promotion, which will make it more affordable to use bus services that serve Andover town centre over the next three months.
“The aim of Hampshire’s Bus Improvement Service Plan funding is to encourage increased bus use.
“These discounted routes in Andover offer convenient early morning, daytime, evening and weekend services using a fleet of brand new buses, making it a convenient, easy and environmentally-friendly way for people to travel.”
