Independent bus operator A2B Travel Group is welcoming its youngest driver, a trainee who acquired his PSV licence 25 days after his 18th birthday.

Charlie Morley, whose involvement with the business started aged 16, fulfilled a dream by passing his test after completing the in-house training.

When he was 16, Mr Morley was spotted by an A2B driver taking photos of buses and he was invited for a depot visit.

“I have been interested in buses for as long as I can remember and have taken photos here, there and everywhere,” he says.

After a day around the buses at the depot, he ended up being asked by the operator to design a new logo.

“Since that day, I’ve been responsible for A2B’s digital media and have worked in most parts of the business before turning 18 and achieving my dream of driving buses!” he adds.

“I would say to any bus enthusiast who wants to fulfil their dreams, get in touch. They have put up with my ‘teenage tantrums’ and here I am doing what I have always wanted to do. The best is still to come.”

Brian Clifford, Managing Director and Owner of A2B Travel Group, says the young driver has made a valuable input to the business.

“Charlie approached us wanting to have a look round and instantly I realised he had a real passion, he started doing our graphic designing and all the stuff teenagers are good at but deep down he really just wanted to drive,” says Mr Clifford.

“We trained him in-house using our qualified instructor and as a surprise to Charlie booked his test in London – to really test his skills!

“He absolutely aced it and adding the ability to drive to his experience in the business has really added to his value to the business.

“His colleagues have all been really supportive and have been there to offer advice when needed.”
