Belfast airlink upgrade

Passengers using Translink’s Airport Express 300 (City Centre-Belfast International Airport) now have a fleet of 10 Volvo B5TL/Wrightbus Gemini 3 ‘deckers, costing £230,000 each.

At the launch:  John McGrath, Deputy Secretary, Department for Infrastructure NI; Ian Campbell, General Manager, Engineering, Translink; Chris Conway, Group Chief Executive, Translink; William McCullagh, Fleet Programme Manager, Translink; Graham Keddie, Managing Director, Belfast International Airport; Mark Nodder, Wrightbus and Dan Barwick, Volvo

Outside is a new-look livery, inside are leather seats, USB points, free Wi-Fi, audio visual displays with next stop announcements, a wheelchair space plus up to two buggies. 

Translink Group CEO Chris Conway says: “With a 25% increase in 2016, we now carry 500,000 passengers every year.

Meanwhile Translink Metro is also taking delivery of 23 standard-spec (i.e. non-wi-fi/USB) versions of the same vehicles for its Belfast network.
