Burnham-on-Sea has proved a popular day trip destination

Coach-friendly town Burnham-on-Sea reports an increase in coach trips to the Somerset town since it started its ‘Project Coach’ initiative.

It has recorded over 70 exclusive first-time day trips in 2017, and says shops and businesses are reporting positively on coach passenger numbers.

Burnham has a dedicated free coach park, and is currently making plans for a new weather-proof area in the coach park for passengers and meet-and-greeters.

Project Coach has seen £3,500 funding from two local councils, and is managed by a dedicated committee that meets several times a year.

Rodney Dodson from coach operator Carols Travel says: “We brought our coach on an excursion from Weston to Burnham. We were very impressed with Burnham for the free coach parking, helpful advice from the tourist information and such a pleasant town.

“We will now make Burnham a regular visit and also pass this on to other coach operators.”
