To celebrate the coach and bus industry, the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT) has launched a photo competition for 2020.

The competition is designed to capture on camera the rich diversity of the industry, the vehicles and people that work in it and the features that make it up.

With an extra special focus on wanting to celebrate the people who make the coach and bus world tick, there is a special award for the best photograph of people working in the industry.

The competition is open until December 2020 with a top prize of £1,000 for the overall winner alongside hundreds of pounds in holiday and shopping vouchers also to be won. Monthly winners will be published in routeone alongside notable entries.

CPT Chief Executive Graham Vidler says: “I’m delighted to be launching this competition. There are some great stories in our industry that can be told with a photograph and I look forward to seeing all the entries.”

Digital manipulation

You may use digital manipulation to optimise an image. You may crop an image, but you are not permitted to add or remove key elements of the composition for this competition. Images can be sharpened before printing.

Manipulations which could realistically be achieved in a darkroom will be accepted but the judges have the discretion to reject any image which has been, in their opinion, over-manipulated.

Composite or montaged images from more than one original image are ineligible. This includes images shot at different exposures/dynamic ranges and combined. Images stitched to form a panoramic image will be accepted provided that the entrant declares that the final image has been produced in this way.

Multiple exposure ‘in camera’ is permitted. Entrants who are shortlisted will be required to provide the original image file (RAW or JPEG) along with the print and high-resolution version of their image for final judging.
