Durham County Council has added seven Mellor Orion Plus minibuses to its varied fleet. The deal was secured following a competitive tender process that considered size, layout and specification requirements. It represents conquest business for the Rochdale manufacturer.
The fully accessible low-floor minibuses will mostly be used as welfare-type vehicles. The adaptable interior of the Orion Plus has been delivered to Durham County Council in 16-seat format, but they can be altered to convey 22 passengers if required.
Says Strategic Fleet Team Manager Chris Prince: “We had heard great things about the reliability, adaptability and fuel efficiency of the Orion Plus, so we had no hesitation in placing our first order with Mellor.”
Adds Area Sales Manager Jane Dransfield: “We are pleased that DCC has selected us for this order. This is the first time it has taken minibuses from Mellor following our successful tender bid.
“We trust all our vehicles will fit the needs of DCC and its passengers. We look forward to working with it again in the future.”
