Exmouth is another location to receive Coach Friendly accreditation from the Confederation of Passenger Transport (CPT). It follows hot on the heels of Ilkley in achieving that status, which recognises places and attractions that work to support coaches and their passengers and drivers.
Exmouth Town Council notes that the award highlights a dedication to supporting group travel and enhancing the visitor experience.
Accreditation has been gained thanks to a collaborative effort involving the Town Council alongside Stuart Line Cruises and other local partners to improve facilities for visiting coach groups.
Work on the initiative stemmed from the East Devon District Council Coach Tourism Task and Finish Forum, which identified key opportunities to enhance Exmouth’s offering for operators and passengers.
The Town Council notes that significant improvements have been made to coach parking and other visitor facilities in Exmouth, with local partnership working a key part of such efforts. That makes it easier for groups to explore the coastline, attractions and independent businesses, the local authority continues.
Says Exmouth Town Council Tourism Officer Rons Boatman: “We are thrilled that Exmouth has been recognised as a CPT Coach Friendly destination.
“This award reflects our ongoing efforts to improve services for coach operators and group visitors, ensuring that Exmouth remains a top choice for coach tourism. We look forward to welcoming more visitors to experience everything our town has to offer.”
Stuart Line Cruises Managing Director Jake Stuart and Owner Lauren Clark jointly add: “We are excited about Exmouth receiving this recognition. As a key player in the local tourism industry, we are proud to have contributed to making the town more accessible for coach groups.
“This accreditation will help to bring even more visitors to Exmouth, benefiting not only our business but the entire community.”
Dartline Coaches, part of the Go-Ahead Group, backed the presentation event by sending a freshly painted Irizar i6S integral and a driver to join it.
