DRT minibus driver with Fife Council Keith Smith has received an award

Keith Smith, a demand responsive transport (DRT) minibus driver for Fife Council, has been crowned the UK’s best light commercial vehicle and car driver in the inaugural TomTom Telematics Driver of the Year Awards.

Selection took account of both performance and average mileage. Driving behaviour scores were calculated by OptiDrive 360, a key component of TomTom’s Webfleet management solution.

Keith has been with Fife Council for three-and-a-half years after a career as a police officer.

“I’m thrilled to win the award. Our cargo is the most valuable of all, so I’m always conscious of the need to be a careful and considerate driver,” he says.

Fife Council’s DRT service’s adoption of Webfleet has driven a 10% reduction in fuel consumption. “Safe and smooth driving is absolutely paramount. We encourage all of our drivers to keep a clear focus on it, so Keith’s success is no surprise,” adds Transportation Officer Mike McQueen.
