Connected transport specialist Geotab has announced a milestone partnership with video telematics firm Lytx on a significant deployment with telecoms infrastructure provider Circet.
The partnership has seen 3,000 commercial vehicles across the UK and Ireland fitted with Geotab’s fleet data platform and Lytx’s Surfsight video safety system. It is believed to be one of the fastest large-scale telematics rollouts of its kind.
The partnership has improved safety, cut emissions and reduced operational costs; Circet, which operates a mixed fleet and drivetrains, reports a 16% rise in overall driver safety performance from the deployment, with metrics such as harsh braking, cornering, and acceleration improved, and better driver behaviour, which exceeds industry benchmarks by 42%.
Improvements were driven by Geotab’s safety scorecard and the Lytx dashcam feedback, the latter of which uses near real-time reporting to alert drivers to risky behaviour and enable post-incident coaching. Combined with Geotab’s Electric Vehicle Suitability Assessment (EVSA), used to predict savings from switching over to EVs, the companies say the joint solution could deliver ÂŁ2.3 million in fuel savings per year.
Comments Ray Verschoyle, Head of Transport Compliance at Circet: “The combined Geotab and Lytx Surfsight solution has transformed how we manage our fleet. We now have the data we need to improve safety, cut fuel use, lower maintenance costs and operate more sustainably. Its focus on innovation and ability to integrate with our systems made them the perfect partners for our needs.”
Aaron Jarvis, Associate Vice President, EMEA at Geotab, adds: “Circet chose Geotab because we offer more than just an off-the-shelf solution. Our continuous investment in product development, combined with strong local service and support, gave it confidence in our long-term value. Our partnership with Lytx allows us to deliver fully integrated safety solutions, and our open platform meant we could align closely with Circet’s internal systems and processes. It’s another example of how Geotab’s ecosystem can support a customer’s needs today while future-proofing business operations.”
OEM market captured
The announcement is joined by news that Geotab now works with 31 brands across three continents, covering some 80% of the world’s vehicle manufacturers by fleet market share.
Geotab notes that that level of OEM engagement delivers consistent, high-quality information, and is helping to simplify life for mixed-fleet operators when it comes to fleet management.
Through its partnerships, the supplier’s MyGeotab platform integrates OEM-specific diagnostic trouble codes to enable vehicle-specific maintenance alerts and recommendations. That, it says, helps fleet managers better plan downtime and reduce disruption. It also champions industry standardisation through the Connected Vehicle Systems Alliance (COVESA) and the Mobility Data Space.
Christoph Ludewig, Vice President Europe at Geotab, says: “OEMs are under increasing pressure to shift their business models towards e-mobility and data-driven solutions. Geotab has developed a universal set of recommended data points, sampling methodology and data model that OEMs can use to ensure their data offering matches the unique requirements of fleet managers – especially those with mixed fleets.
“Our solutions, robust analytical capabilities and integrated AI, enable OEMs to rapidly meet these evolving demands, while maintaining their core operations focus. This collaborative approach is advancing digital mobility today and well into the future.”
