Solihull-based LandFlight, has added to the growing roster of major airlines it serves from Birmingham Airport after agreeing a two-year deal with Dutch flag-carrier KLM Royal Dutch Airlines.

The news follows a year of growth for LandFlight, which recently announced a £330,000 investment in new vehicles for its fleet, which now stands at more than 30 cars, coaches, buses and MPVs.

It also holds contracts with Air India, Lufthansa, Qatar Airways and FlyBe.

LandFlight has worked with airlines operating out of Birmingham for more than 30 years, providing daily transport for pilots and crews between hotels and terminals.

LandFlight Director Danny Matthews says: “We’re delighted to add another globally-recognised brand to our roster, which reflects well on our reputation for providing a reliable service with quality vehicles and drivers.”

Joanne Riley, station manager for KLM, said: “Having a professional service we can rely on for efficient transfers is critical to the successful running of our airline.

“LandFlight has an excellent reputation for serving crews operating out of Birmingham Airport over many years and we look forward to working with it.”

KLM, which is the flag carrier airline of the Netherlands and has its hub at Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, is the oldest airline in the world still operating under its original name.

Employing 32,000 staff, KLM generated revenues of €10 billion in 2016 and operated worldwide flights with more than 200 aircraft.
