Liverpool will become the first city to be served by the ArrivaClick demand-responsive minibus concept after a successful pilot in Kent.
No date is yet confirmed for the beginning of the Merseyside operation, but Arriva says it will be “from later in the summer.”
Arriva has worked with Merseytravel to roll out the service, which will initially use six high-specification EVM Cityline low-floor minibuses. The operator says that it will look to expand that fleet to 25 by summer 2019.
The Liverpool operation will work on the same basis at the pilot. Customers download an app, and when a minibus is summoned, it delivers a guaranteed fare and real-time departure and arrival information.
ArrivaClick complements Arriva’s position as the biggest provider of conventional bus services in the city.
