Dealership BASE Coach Sales has introduced a “new and improved” PSVAR-compliant variant of the MOBIpeople Midi Explorer midicoach.
The design now includes a centre-mounted underfloor wheelchair lift. That allows all rear luggage space to be retained on the Midi Explorer, which is built on a front-engined MAN TGL chassis. A maximum capacity of 35 is possible on the PSVAR-compliant midicoach.
Says BASE Coach Sales General Manager Nick Dodgson: “We are always looking to improve the specification of MOBIpeople products.
“With more customers wishing to operate accessible coaches, we think this is a significant improvement in the design that allows the vehicle to operate in a PSVAR-compliant specification without any real compromise of its original design as a 35-seat midicoach.”
Previously, PSVAR-compliant Midi Explorers had the lift located at the rear. That intruded into available luggage space.
BASE is also offering a PSVAR retrofit option to the latest design for existing MOBIpeople Midi Explorers that are already in the market. It can also retrofit the full-size Explorer to achieve compliance.
KB Coaches of Stonehouse, Gloucestershire – which recently became part of the DVSA Earned Recognition scheme – is the first customer for the new design of PSVAR-compliant Midi Explorer. Its vehicle has been built to accommodate up to four wheelchair users.
Says Managing Director Andy Francis: “The Midi Explorer is our 11th MOBIpeople since 2015. The quality of the product and the aftermarket support from BASE is second to none.”
All MOBIpeople products are available to PSVAR-compliant specification. That includes its recently revealed super-high full-length model. The first example of that coach, built on an MAN RR2 chassis, is for Anthony’s Travel of Runcorn.
