The routeone Innovation Challenge highlights the most significant new initiatives shaping the coach and bus sector. With entries invited until 25 September 2023, routeone is pleased to announce the judging panel for this years’ Challenge.
Aaron Hill, Director of CPT Cymru, joins previous judges of the Challenge Chloe Leach O’Connell, Jon Eardley, Phil Hitchen, and Tom Morgan.
Aaron Hill brings to CPT a wealth of experience from membership organisations and the third sector, having an extensive background in policy, influencing and external affairs. His previous roles have covered a wide variety of public services, including housing, regeneration, health and education.
Chloe Leach O’Connell
An engagement professional, Chloe Leach O’Connell has worked with the passenger transport industry across the UK for more than 15 years. Passionate about accelerating inclusion and diversity in the bus industry, she is a founder member and Co-Chair of the D&I Bus Group, part of Women in Transport. She says: “I’m delighted to be involved in judging the Innovation Challenge once again. The diverse range of products and ideas are truly impressive, and it’s always a difficult few hours trying to choose an overall winner! I’m really proud to be part of a challenge that showcases how forward-thinking our industry is.”
Managing Director for Abellio London Bus, Jon Eardley has more than 26 years’ experience in the coach and bus industry. Working in collaboration with TfL and supply partners, Mr Eardley has introduced numerous industry-leading technologies to the London bus network, including new, customer-focused electric vehicles and innovative charger solutions to decarbonise the network.
Phil Hitchen, Managing Director at Belle Vue Bus & Coach Hire, is passionate about people and business. Mr Hitchen believes innovation starts with the passenger and works backwards. Innovative ideas are essential to progress as a hub to a wheel, as they form the centre around which all things revolve. He says: “The Challenge is a great platform to showcase the latest innovations shaping the industry. I’m looking forward to seeing the entries and being part of the judging panel again to reward the best entries.”
Tom Morgan joined the industry in 2009 and has progressed through the ranks at Trentbarton to become Managing Director in March 2023. Tom’s passions include understanding customer priorities, consistently delivering exceptional customer service, and using innovation and technology to make using bus a viable, attractive and preferential alternative to the private car.
