Millstream coach park in Salisbury reopened on 14 November after being closed for over 11 months for an extensive makeover and improvement by the Environment Agency.
The closure was originally scheduled to have lasted for four months. Work undertaken is part of the city’s River Park scheme and Wiltshire Council (WC) says that coach passengers visiting Salisbury “can now enjoy enhanced facilities and a more welcoming experience.”
Drop-off and pick-up are provided on one site at Millstream Approach with six coach parking spaces and a 20-minute maximum dwell time. It was formerly the old coach park and is visible in the centre of the picture above.
10 longer-stay bays for layover are nearby at the top of Central car park, towards the top left of the picture. Coach drivers are advised to remain there until 20 minutes before the pick-up time.
Overhaul of the Salisbury coach park includes improved drainage and lighting, clear wayfinding, and attractive landscaping with the planting of native species of trees and shrubs.
A small ‘pocket park’ is also present along with a welcome area including seating and an information board. A toilet block showcases a mural by a local artist.
The Environment Agency will retain a presence in the Central car park over coming months while final elements of the scheme and snags are dealt with. Seasonal works will be completed in spring 2025 to finish the scheme, WC advises.
