Stagecoach South West has been awarded a new student contract by Callywith College in Bodmin, in what represents the group’s largest single agreement in Cornwall to date.
The deal commences on 1 September and will see Stagecoach operate 17 vehicles across North and East Cornwall to serve the college’s expanding student population.
Stagecoach displaces incumbent operator Go Cornwall Bus, part of the Go-Ahead Group. As part of the new arrangement, Stagecoach will establish a dedicated operating hub in the Bodmin area, promising local job creation, and strengthening regional transport infrastructure. A new livery for the college bus fleet will be unveiled later in 2025.
The initiative includes a partnership between Callywith College and mobility technology provider RideTandem, which will launch a bespoke digital ticketing platform aimed at students and their families. The app will allow for more efficient ticket management, real-time updates, and greater parental reassurance around student travel.
Comments Jon Grey, Principal, Callywith College: “This collaboration marks a significant step forward in enhancing the travel experience for our students across a challenging costal and rural county. This will be a modern, reliable and tech-enabled service that supports our commitment to social mobility through accessible and sustainable bus transport.”
Adds Peter Knight, Managing Director of Stagecoach South West: “This long-term contract will deliver a number of benefits for the college and we look forward delivering a class leading transport solution, tailored to the requirements of the college and its learners.”
