Parent company Transdev has invested £2.5m in 13 new Alexander Dennis Enviro200s for The Blackburn Bus Company.
The 40-seat buses were launched on 19 January on The Blackburn Bus Company’s route 1. They include features such as mobile device docks, USB power sockets and charging pads which have not been seen on any North West route previously.
At the launch event, The Very Reverend Peter Howell-Jones joined ADL Chief Executive Colin Robertson CBE and Best Impressions Design Director Ray Stenning to welcome four of the new buses in front of the historic Cathedral.
The livery, designed by Best Impressions, depicts Lancashire landmarks including Blackburn Cathedral, Darwen Tower and Bolton Town Hall.
Inside, there is blue neon lighting, LED spotlighting for reduced glare and improved night visibility and high back seating. Overhead screens deliver live arrival times and connections with other routes and customers can track buses live on the Transdev Go app.
The buses also use Ticketer electronic systems in which passengers can pay by contactless, smartphones, smart watches, cash, and e-ticketing via the app.
