Westway Coach Services continues Royal Warrant of Appointment
SHARE

Westway Coach Services has continued its Royal Warrant of Appointment status after grant of such an honour by HM King Charles III.

The West Molesey business is the only coach operator to hold such an accreditation. The Royal Warrant is a mark of recognition awarded to companies that have regularly supplied goods or services to the Royal Household for at least five years.

Since before the coronation of King Charles III, Westway held a five-year Royal Warrant granted by HM Queen Elizabeth II in 2016. Such Warrants run for a three- to five-year term (unless terminated). Over 800 Royal Warrants are currently in place and all transactions between holders and the Royal Household are carried out on a strictly commercial basis.

Speaking about the continuation of its Royal Warrant of Appointment status, Westway Account Manager Josh West describes it as “a tremendous honour” and something that “has continued to motivate our team to further improve our services and focus on ways in which we can be more sustainable – a shared objective of us and the Royal Household.”

The new coat of arms for the Royal Warrant has not yet been released publicly. Westway expects to receive it in early February, at which point it will be applied to all vehicles in the fleet.

Mr West adds that being awarded the Royal Warrant involves “a hugely in-depth audit, encompassing all business areas and including services provided to the Royal Household. There is a big focus on sustainability, management, and staff value and engagement.”

In 2019, Westway was the debut operator in the UK to take delivery of a zero-emission coach. 20% of its fleet now uses battery-electric power and it recently received a first Yutong GTe14 tri-axle, which has 621kWh of energy storage to deliver a range of over 300 miles.
