The extension of expiry dates listed on tachograph calibration and inspection certificates will be discontinued after 31 August, DVSA has announced.
On 3 April, the agency began awarding three-month extensions to tachograph calibration and inspection expiry dates until further notice. Subsequently, EU measures were introduced to extend all certificates’ validity by six months if they are listed as expiring between 1 March and 31 August.
In line with that, DVSA says it now considers that there will be sufficient capacity by 1 September to carry out calibrations and inspections scheduled from that date onwards as normal, in addition to those that will be undertaken six months later than planned.
Corresponding with the announcement of the original extension to calibration and inspection deadlines, any faults with a tachograph must continue to be rectified as normal. Initial calibrations and changes to parameters – such as an alteration to the tyre size or vehicle registration – must also be actioned as normal.
