Halifax bus operator TJ Walsh saw a sudden closure on Wednesday 25 March, with MD Neil Walsh citing the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic, competition with another operator and poor concessionary reimbursement as the reasons.
Speaking to the Halifax Courier, Mr Walsh says the business has been struggling to survive for some time and that it has been unable to accumulate cash to help it through the current crisis.
He adds that taking advantage of government support schemes had been considered but there were insufficient reserves to survive until those payments would be made, hence the closure of TJ Walsh.
