The introduction of no credit card charges by the Government in January might be a great idea for customers, but in the long term they will have to pay the extra costs in some other way.

Many companies, including Parrys International, used to charge a small percentage for credit cards but now it’s not allowed by law.

Last year’s credit card costs were £24,000 and now, with the extra use of credit cards, it is predicted to cost the company over £50,000 in direct charges from the card providers.

In addition, many tour companies are still reeling from the terror attacks in Paris and London that has seen travel to these destinations drop by around 80%.

Other problem areas such a Spain, Belgium and even Calais have caused a lack of confidence to travel resulting in loss of business and vital revenue.

To offset the extra costs, Parrys has reduced its office to five days, closing on Saturdays for the first time in 45 years.

In another cost saving measure, no new coaches have been ordered for 2018 and no extra staff will be employed. Tour prices will also have to rise to try to cover the extra costs.
