Longstanding coach and bus figure Austin Birks is among three newly elected members of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT) (UK) board.
Mr Birks has been a CILT member since 1983 and is Chair of the Institute’s Bus and Coach Forum. He has held a variety of positions within CILT since joining, which the professional body says demonstrates “his commitment to the field of transport and logistics.”
As a board member, Mr Birks hopes to use his experience in adding value and strategic direction to the Institute and to continue to drive positive change in the coach and bus industry, where he sees CILT as having a pivotal place in its future.
Speaking about his elevation, Mr Birks says: “My decision to run for election was taken as I thought that after decades of membership, it was time to try and add value to an Institute that means a great deal to me, as it did my father.”
Also elected to the CILT board are Babcock International Group Head of Supply Chain Transformation Joann Robertson and CenGlobal Managing Director Steve Cross.
CILT (UK) CEO Paul Adams has welcomed the three electees. “Their extensive experience and dedication to the sector will be instrumental in advancing our goals. With their support, we are well-positioned to elevate our strategy and foster meaningful growth for the Institute,” he says.
“As an Institute, we would also like to express our gratitude to our outgoing board members for their invaluable contributions during their tenure. Their dedication and insights have played a vital role in shaping our progress, and we thank them for their lasting impact.”
Adds CILT (UK) Chair Vikram Singla: “I am delighted to welcome our new members to the board. Their collective knowledge and leadership will bring fresh energy to the Institute.
“Together we will continue to strengthen our influence in the entire transport, logistics and wider supply chain sector, drive innovation, and ensure sustainable growth for the future.”
