Alpine Travel Managing Director Chris Owens (pictured) is one of two additions to the Coach Tourism Association (CTA) board of Directors. He joins at the same time as Albatross Travel Senior Account Manager Louise Fitzpatrick, who has previously served on the CTA board.
Mr Owens had led Alpine Travel since 2002. Under his tenure the Llandudno business acquired Silver Star Holidays in 2014 and Jones Holidays three years later. Alpine has a significant focus on coach tourism both in the UK and further afield while Mr Owens also brings experience from being part of the Confederation of Passenger Transport board, a position he recently stood down from.
Ms Fitzpatrick has extensive knowledge of the hotel and wholesale sector. She joined the industry in 2003. She previously sat on CTA’s board between 2014-2020. In her position with Albatross she provides UK-based coach operators with full tour packages.
Speaking on the appointments, Robert Shaw, CTA Chair and Director of Coventry coach operator Harry Shaw, notes that Ms Fitzpatrick and Mr Owens will add value for CTA members. “Louise and Chris will bring new ideas and vision for the challenges of today and the future, strengthening the voice of the coach tourism sector. We are extremely happy to have them on the team and would like to thank them for their commitment.”
Adds Mr Owens: “Explaining to attractions, destinations and regional tourism organisations the huge financial value that coach tourism brings to them is a key role of CTA. To achieve that, we have got to share our views and our experiences and unify them in a strong voice.”
