Nottingham City Transport (NCT) has appointed longstanding bus industry leader Nigel Eggleton (pictured) as Operations Manager.
He brings over 44 years’ experience in the sector to that position, having commenced his career on 1 June 1980 with the National Bus Company. Since then, he has held various senior roles across businesses including Oxford Bus Company, Transdev Blazefield, and First Bus, where he was Managing Director of its South Yorkshire and Midlands businesses.
With NCT, Mr Eggleton will be responsible for leading and supporting a team of over 800 drivers as well as the service delivery team to provide a reliable and punctual passenger proposition. He will also work alongside the wider management team to ensure operational excellence, the operator says.
Speaking about the arrival of Mr Eggleton, Nottingham City Transport Head of Operations David Conway says: “I am delighted to welcome Nigel onboard. His wealth of experience over his long and varied career in the industry will be of great value to both the operations team and the future of NCT.”
Adds Mr Eggleton: “Joining a forward-thinking and highly professional bus company like NCT was an opportunity I could not pass up. I look forward to bringing my many years of experience to the team and contributing new and innovative ways to support and value our 800 drivers.”
Away from his professional work, Mr Eggleton is Chairman of the Omnibus Society, President of the Leicester Transport Heritage Trust, and Trustee of the UK Bus Archive. He has also been a member of the routeone Awards judging panel since 2023.
