Scania UK has appointed Paul Smith (pictured) as Dealer Director for Scotland on a permanent basis. He has been covering the role on an interim arrangement since August 2022 following the promotion of James Colbourne to Executive Services Director in April of that year.

Mr Smith steps up from Head of Sales in Scotland having been with Scania’s operation there since 1994. He began his career as a technician and was later Workshop Foreman at Scania Edinburgh before gaining MT10 technician status and being promoted to Workshop Controller in 2002.

Later Mr Smith moved into a sales role covering the East of Scotland and he took up responsibility for specialist vehicle sales. In 2020 he advanced to his most recent role as Head of Sales in Scotland.

Speaking about the further promotion, Mr Smith says: “It is an honour to be appointed Dealer Director for Scotland, and to be given the opportunity to lead the team through the biggest transformation our industry has ever experienced.

“Our role is to build our brand’s equity while ultimately enriching the lives of our customers. Focusing on improving and building on our customers’ experiences will be essential for Scania to remain at the forefront of the heavy transport sector in Scotland.”

Adds Scania UK Managing Director Chris Newitt: “I am pleased that Paul Smith will be our new Dealer Director for Scotland. He is hugely experienced and brings the best out of our teams that work with him, as his time within the Scania UK family shows.

“His knowledge and experience will be a huge benefit to us, and ultimately, for our valued customers.”
