Jake Osman, Communications and Marketing Manager for Reading Buses, is running ultra-marathons to raise money for cancer.
A keen runner, Jake will take part in two mammoth marathons in June, or as he describes them, “two back-to-back weekends of pain”.
On 8 June he will tackle the Race to the Tower, 52 miles of trails in the Cotswolds, with the aim of finishing in 13 hours.
And on 15 June he will run in Endure 24, a 24-hour race at Wasing Park, as part of a team of two with his wife Nicki. They are aiming to run 50 miles each, “fuelled by little more than caffeine and bloody-mindedness.”
Jake has been inspired to fundraise for Cancer Research UK Kids & Teens as his friend has recently been diagnosed with cancer. The charity is also Reading Buses’ Charity of the Year.
Jake has already run Reading’s Half Marathon this month. He says: “I’m definitely going to add more miles with more races planned later on in the year, hopefully including at least one marathon and another half marathon or two.”
