‘You need to know the industry to train a driver’

Best idea, in regards to the Driver CPC training, is to train to specific roles and every company should do some sort of in-house training regardless of size. They should also have a training manual and driver handbook of the expectations of the operator.

Only thing I would change is a pass and fail coach driver, bus driver and tour driver endorsed qualification in their field.

There is no point training a driver to load milk in a tanker then do an 18-day tour to Bratislava.

I’ve been doing accredited in-house training since 1993 and the point is, I train to the standards I see is needed and what our company needs.

I think you get more respect and results by actually showing people what needs to be done with the team and continually giving advice on the job.

I’ve heard so many stories of four-hour courses and trainers with no experience. You need to know the industry inside out to train a driver.

Some have more experience in their big toe than some trainers.
