A lack of courtesy

I have a feeling that this may have been aired before, but the problem does not get any better. It is extremely irritating to pull into a motorway service area and find the place cluttered with lorries.

I thought the idea was to allow passengers, i.e. customers – the people who spend money, safe and easy access to facilities without having to run the gauntlet of truck drivers.

Two causes come to mind, either these so-called professional drivers have great difficulty reading the signs, which clearly say ‘coaches only’, or they are less ambulant and cannot walk very far. The other factor is that they are simply ignorant and selfish.

And they believe they have all achieved elevated stardom with TV screenings of Stobart and Ice Road Truckers – a bit like 007 Licence to Kill, except that is an insult to Mr Bond.

I doubt though the situation will improve, with the promise of 10,000 more lorries to support the expanding economy.

One time, both sides worked together with professional courtesy, but that is old hat.
