Following the success of the Original King Alfred Running Day on 7 May, the Friends of King Alfred Buses has confirmed its plans for Saturday 15 September 2018 as part of Winchester Heritage Open Days.

The main theme will be a Twilight Running Day, involving up to seven King Alfred buses.
Trips will start from Winchester Broadway between 1600-2100hrs with a vehicle display just beforehand at 1500hrs at the Cattle Market car park.
The buses will cover many of the traditional King Alfred routes, giving a rare and atmospheric opportunity to travel on the King Alfred buses into the hours of darkness.
As an additional feature this year, there will be some journeys using ‘low height half cab’ vehicles starting at about 1230hrs, also from the Broadway.
These will feature the King Alfred AEC Renowns, plus one or more visiting Bristol Lodekkas and Dennis Lolines and a Leicester AEC Bridgemaster operating a number of routes.
A full timetable will be available in late August.
