Operators should work with Zeelo with caution

I have just read the hyperbole from on-demand coach provider Zeelo [routeone/News/21 February].

This reminds me of many past situations where people from outside the coach industry think they can teach us to suck eggs.

I am a cynical Cornishman who has many years’ experience in our wonderful industry, formerly as a coach finance specialist and also as a coach driver and tour guide.

The news story about Zeelo says that thousands of coach operators are currently working with them to provide very high-end specification vehicles.

These coach owners need to be very careful that they don’t infringe DVSA rules about signs within the scope of the wipers, as shown in the picture.

Operators also need to refer to the Sporting Events (Control of Alcohol etc.) Act 1985 to determine whether it is legal to supply coach passengers with ‘bubbly served by an onboard host’ on the way to a race meeting and other sporting events.
