Recognising the digital transformation in road transport, Continental recently partnered with Microlise to increase the efficiency of its ContiPressureCheck tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS).
ContiPressureCheck Live already builds on the existing product, which monitors tyre pressures via sensors and informs the driver via a monitor. ContiPressureCheck Live informs operators if there is a problem with tyre pressure, even if the vehicle is on the road.
“With an advanced TPMS of this kind, vehicles are continually connected and tyre pressures are automatically monitored,” says Tony Stapleton, Head of Fleet Sales at Continental Tyres UK.
When Continental TPMS combined with the Microlise platform, information is relayed to the Conti360 Fleet Services central office. It is complete with the issue type and vehicle location. The system then sends an alert to a service provider. It can then arrange maintenance.
“Continental and Microlise’s solution is currently on trial in commercial fleet. It has already been proved as a viable and saleable concept,” Tony adds.
Incorrect tyre pressure is one of the greatest causes of excess wear. It leads to irregular patterns. That, in turn, reduces performance and worsens fuel economy.
