Envevo, a market-leader in end-to-end EV infrastructure, is proud to have played a key role in the delivery of a landmark project at the First Bus Caledonia Depot in Glasgow. As Principal Contractor, Envevo have worked in partnership with First Bus and project partners to deliver the latest phase of the multi-phase project that has led to the site being recognised as the UK’s largest EV charging hub. This transformative initiative not only supports First Bus’ transition to a zero-emission fleet but also sets a new benchmark for scalable, future-ready transport infrastructure.

A Model for the Future of Urban MobilityQuote from Envevo:Quote from First Bus:

Envevo has played a pivotal role, in delivering the latest phase of the depot’s charging infrastructure, which now includes 80 dual-headed rapid DC chargers capable of powering over 150 electric buses. The depot is already 50% electric, with full electrification on the horizon.

But the innovation doesn’t stop there.

Third-party charging access has been enabled at the depot, an industry-leading move that opens the infrastructure to other fleet operators across Glasgow. By leveraging the smart charging systems and grid-optimised design, the depot can now serve as a shared energy hub, eliminating the need for costly, duplicated grid upgrades and accelerating the city’s collective journey to net zero.

A Model for the Future of Urban Mobility

Envevo’s integrated service approach combines civil engineering, electrical design, and smart energy management to ensure that their projects are not only fit for today’s needs but also future-proofed for tomorrow’s demands. The Glasgow depot’s smart charging software dynamically balances energy loads, enabling full bus charging in just four hours while minimising peak-time grid draw.

This infrastructure is more than a depot, it’s a blueprint for how cities can decarbonise transport at scale, collaboratively and cost-effectively.

Quote from Envevo:

“At Envevo, we believe infrastructure should be an enabler, not a barrier, to decarbonisation,” said Allan Kennedy, Head of Partnerships eBus at Envevo. “Our work at Caledonia Depot demonstrates how smart, shared infrastructure can unlock real progress, not just for one operator, but for an entire city. We look forward to continue supporting First Bus and many other operators in meeting their net-zero targets.”

Quote from First Bus:

“Envevo delivered our latest phase of electrification at Caledonia on time and on budget. Our partnership with them continues to strengthen since they put in place a specific eBus team and we look forward to their continued support on our journey to zero tailpipe emissions by 2035” Henry Ashman, First Bus
