ShuttleID has secured the ticketing platform’s first client outside the UK after Irish operator Boylan’s Buses of Dublin signed up for the sale of school bus passes online.
It is described as “a key milestone” by ShuttleID, which was established in 2019 as a school bus ticketing service but has since expanded into commuter routes.
The product has thus far supported UK card payment and BACS direct debit. Its work with Boylan’s Buses sees the platform take on a multi-currency position. ShuttleID says that will enable expansion into further territories.
Key to projected international growth is the addition of both the Euro currency and the SEPA direct debit payment scheme to the platform. SEPA is used in 36 countries and associated territories. BACS direct debit remains the most popular platform for school bus passes sold via ShuttleID in the UK.
Under the expansion into countries that use the Euro, ShuttleID offers a simple package from €75 per month that permits the issue of digital passes direct to users. Alternatively, a complete package allows operators to sell tickets online. It starts at a 2.75% per Euro-based transaction, with no monthly fee.
Boylan’s Buses Managing Director Eric Boylan says that adoption of ShuttleID has simplified the operator’s school bus ticketing. “Going from WhatsApp with groups of over 150 parents was way too stressful for me and the company,” he explains.
“ShuttleID has been amazing to deal with from the start. Now everything is automated and will make expanding on our current routes easier and more professional.”
ShuttleID Director Chris Bell adds that the supplier was able to work with Boylan’s Buses to deploy the platform rapidly. “Eric approached us only a few weeks ago with an idea to bring ShuttleID to Ireland,” says Mr Bell.
“Despite it being our busiest period of the year, we felt we could not pass on this great opportunity to work with Boylan’s Buses and expand into a new territory. We are now looking to work with other forward thinking operators in Ireland that are looking for a simple way to take their school and staff shuttle services to the next level.”
