Shell is confident Skills Challenge competition can inspire gifted coach and bus technicians
The IRTE Skills Challenge serves to encourage bus and coach technicians to reach their full potential, according to competition sponsors Shell.
“At Shell, we’re passionate about investing in people. A business is only as strong as its people. So, ensuring those people are happy in work and feel motivated to grow their expertise should be at the top of the priority list,” says Aran Kankiwala, Indirect Lubricants Technical Coach, UK, Ireland and Baltics.
“Our hope for events such as this, is that it serves as inspiration to all talented individuals to continue developing skills and working to achieve their full potential – whether they are just entering the industry, or already making good progress along the career journey.”
As the industry moves forward in integrating alternative fuels, Shell will have a greater role to play in aiding the progress of economic fuel consumption, says Aran.
“Looking at current industry trends, there is a worldwide need to improve heavy duty diesel engine fuel efficiency. Shell Lubricants was actively involved in the introduction of CK-4 and FA-4 lubricants to the market – another milestone on the road to greater efficiency.
“As fuel economy targets and the associated penalties become increasingly important for manufacturers globally, engine oil has a role to play as a critical enabling technology. Getting this right requires out-of-the box thinking and long-term technical partnerships.
“Working closely with fleet operators of all types and sizes, all over the world, Shell Lubricants understands that in today’s industry, transport operators are under pressure to achieve high standards of reliability, safety and emissions compliance, while at the same time minimising total operating costs to stay competitive,” concluded Aran.
The IRTE Skills Challenge takes place at the S&B Automotive Academy in Bristol from 4-8 June.
