Sam Glover, Director of LetsJoin, infotainment and data supplier

LetsJoin, an infotainment provider that offers solutions for wi-fi dropping out on moving buses as well as advertising opportunities, has launched a new analytics service using the data it collects.

The service maps bus routes and allows operators to easily see the level of passenger use and where passengers get on and off, as well as their demographics, including age.

Director Sam Glover demonstrated how the system allows operators to see where they can make improvements in route efficiencies. His example used two bus services, the first into the centre of town and the second out from the centre via the university. A high number of student-age people were changing between the two to get to the university; the system showed that by extending the first route to terminate at the university, the peak vehicle requirement on the second route could be reduced, saving costs.
