Arriva Midlands will stop printing paper timetables in Leicester from 10 June, after revealing unused/outdated copies a year would stretch the same length as 1,344 Olympic-sized swimming pools.

To mark World Environment Day (5 June) it is encouraging bus users to try digital schedules instead.
Simon Finnie, Area Managing Director from Arriva Midlands, says: “We are currently placing greater emphasis on green issues, and are committed to making changes to ensure we can play our part in tackling climate change, so seeing figures like this, and not acting upon them would be a disservice to ourselves and to the people we serve.
