Stock batch of 10 Scania HDs on order for May delivery; variant will carry 42 with a toilet, 45 without

Scania will introduce a 10.9m Touring HD into the UK market during 2020, it has revealed.

The new variant will seat either 42 with a rear toilet or 45 without. Scania Great Britain has placed an initial stock order for 10 of the mid-sized coaches. They are expected to arrive here in late May, says UK Retail Sales Manager Lee Wale.

“We are delighted to announce this new, shorter length Touring,” adds Mr Wale. “It will enter a market segment that is growing in demand.”

The 10.9m variant utilises the K 360 IB chassis that is standard on the 12.1m version (pictured). It is powered by the 9.3-litre DC09 engine.

“Many operators have commented on the reliability, high level of specification and fuel efficiency of the 12.1m model. We are already taking orders for the first batch of mid-sized coaches.”

The 10.9m Touring HD will benefit from the same two-year repair and maintenance package that is standard on other Touring models, along with the manufacturer’s fleet management service. Each week, it emails to the operator data on the performance of the coach and the driver.

Standard as part of the internal specification will be Kiel Avance 1020 seats. They will have three-point belts, drop-down tables, leather trim and magazine nets, and USB charging at every position.

Scania launched the Touring HD into the UK market in 2015. It has delivered around 200 of the model here.

The 10.9m example will complement the established 13.7m tri-axle, which offers a capacity of up to 59 with a centre toilet, and the 12.1m version. It carries 51 passengers with a toilet or 53 without.
