New bus stop signs (commonly called flags) have been erected in Stapleford, Cambridgeshire by volunteers after the local authority had no money available to replace them themselves.
These have been privately funded and erected by Steve Edmondson, a local transport campaigner from Haslingfield with some financial support from Stapleford Parish Council and the help of myself from Great Shelford.
The signs replace old dilapidated or missing 'flags' on the route of the number 31 Cambridgeshire County Council tendered bus service which runs from Cambridge, Addenbrookes via Stapleford and the Shelfords to Fowlmere and Barley and is operated by A2B Bus and Coach of Melbourn, Cambridgeshire.
Steve has ongoing plans to also replace other bus stop flags on routes in Great and Little Shelford, Hauxton and Haslingfield as Cambridgeshire County Council (now the Cambridge and Peterborough Combined Authority) have no funds to replace bus top flags and timetables.
