New Zealand-based public transport technology innovator Snapper Services has announced an extension of operations to nearly 20 countries, marking a milestone in its global expansion. It comes two years after the company expanded its presence in Europe.

Central to the supplier’s growth has been is its collaboration with global technology partners including Optibus, Vix Technology and AWS. Those partnerships have allowed the company to integrate its expertise in transport intelligence with its partners’ solutions to address localised challenges.

At the heart of Snapper Services’ success is the Mosaiq Transit Intelligence Suite, launched in 2023. That platform equips transport authorities with real-time and historic data to optimise network performance and improve passenger experience. Recent updates to the suite include advanced analytics tools such as running times and stop details, enabling more precise evaluation of route performance and empowering data-driven decision-making.

The last 18 months have seen Snapper Services support transformative projects including the West Yorkshire Combined Authority’s transition to a franchised network. It has also introduced the Mosaiq Global Public Transit Index, which benchmarks transport performance on a global scale.

“Our partnerships are built on a shared vision to create excellent experiences in public transport,” says Miki Szikszai, CEO of Snapper Services (pictured).  “As we celebrate this milestone, we are inspired to continue driving positive change in public transport systems worldwide. Looking ahead, we remain committed to enabling a culture of continuous improvement of the public transport experience. We expect to leverage modern technology and our deep domain knowledge to create even more impact in existing markets and explore opportunities in new regions.

“The public transport industry is just at the beginning of its digital transformation journey, and we are excited about what the future holds as we work towards creating excellent public transport experiences that accelerate the journey to a sustainable world.”

Adds Jon Salmon, Chief Revenue Officer at Snapper Services: “Mosaiq has transformed how transport authorities understand their networks. We now process 3 billion data heartbeats each month and gain insights from approximately 25 million trips, and we’re pleased to see the platform gaining traction each month.

“This work reflects our commitment to providing genuinely useful insights that can help support bus operators and local authorities to make data-driven decisions. These decisions underpin the delivery of consistent network performance and optimise resources to enhance the overall public transport experience for passengers.”
