Coach Travel Services takes its fourth MOBIpeople Explorer

Coach Travel Services MOBIpeople Explorer

Coach Travel Services recently took delivery of its fourth MAN RR8 with 74-seat PSVAR compliant MOBIpeople Explorer bodywork. It forms a further part of an ongoing move of the Huddersfield operator’s high-capacity provision away from double-decker buses.

All of the 12.5m Explorers have been supplied by BASE Coach Sales. Each has a 290bhp MAN engine coupled to a ZF EcoLife automatic gearbox along with independent front suspension. They are all finished in the operator’s bright yellow livery and have a lift immediately behind the steer axle.

“The MOBIpeople is ideal for our school work and it excels at moving large groups of young people,” say Directors Chris Dickenson, Mick Jessop and Tom Mitchell. They further highlight that the arrangement of the Explorer with a nearside centre door works well on high-capacity coaches.

“The MAN power unit performs well and returns good fuel efficiency. All four coaches have been placed on a full maintenance package with MAN. They are excellent people movers and well received by our passengers.”

Arrival of the latest MOBIpeople Explorer takes to two the number that have been supplied to Coach Travel Services over the past two years. The three Directors have complemented BASE and its General Manager Nick Dodgson for the good service delivered and say that the continued investment has allowed Coach Travel Service to keep “fleet upgrades on track despite the difficulties the industry has faced with COVID-19.”

All four of the coaches are used on home-to-school services and associated education-related duties, including sports and other trips.
