RTITB has introduced Driver CPC (DCPC) modules that it says are designed specifically around the challenges faced by coach and bus drivers.
Subjects include understanding the roles and responsibilities of a PSV driver, which covers customer service, passenger safety, journeys with children and luggage handling; and understanding the driver and customer relationship, which captures representing the company, physical and verbal confrontation, disability awareness, and racism and discrimination.
In-house trainers and training providers benefit from a range of resources so that DCPC courses can be tailored to maximise delegate engagement and suit a range of learning and teaching styles, RTITB adds. Among those are video, case studio workshops, discussion topics and quizzes. All can be downloaded for use offline.
Says Managing Director of the RTITB Driver CPC Consortium Laura Nelson: “Our new PSV modules are helping to meet the growing demand for high quality, valuable and relevant DCPC periodic training that benefits drivers in their specific roles.
“Though PSV and LGV drivers face some common challenges, there are also big differences in their roles. We are catering to that with this training.” Ms Nelson adds that giving drivers development opportunities that create loyalty is particularly important currently, as it may help with staff retention in a difficult marketplace.
Other modules that are equally applicable to coach and bus and LGV drivers are available via RTITB’s DCPC training portal. Members of the RTITB Driver CPC Consortium can access the new PCV-specific modules now.
