Open letter from operators says bus industry ‘needs to tell story’

A small group of operators and marketeers have written an open letter to the bus industry, calling for stronger, united messaging to the outside world.

Signed by Chris Martin of the TAS Partnership, Chloe Leach O’Connell of LOC Consultancy, Transdev’s CEO Alex Hornby and Go North East’s MD Martijn Gilbert, the letter promotes “the need for one strong, positive, national bus narrative.”

It continues: “We believe that as an industry, we need to come together and own one, powerful story that unites us. One that highlights the positive impact buses have on our communities, economy and environment.

“We don't intend to be a lobbying group, we aim to jointly provide the means to tell one united story about the benefits of bus.”

It highlights the bus’s role in creating “an inclusive society where opportunities for work and education are accessible to all”, as well as its part in creating better air quality and employment.

It says: “We all stand up for bus and believe in its power, but how much more powerful would it be if we were saying the same key messages over and over again.”
