Cardiff Bus has been accredited by the Institute of Road Transport Engineers with platinum status under the Maintenance Provision Rating Scheme, which is the highest recognition available under that approach.
Platinum is awarded to operators and maintenance providers that have advanced facilities, top-tier staff, and a readiness for future vehicle trends.
The Maintenance Provision Rating Scheme was introduced in 2025 and is managed by the Institute of Road Transport Engineers. It rates workshops based on staff skills, processes and the quality of facilities, and is described as a means to help raise the bar for commercial vehicle maintenance.
Cardiff Bus says that achieving the platinum standard recognises its position at the cutting edge of maintenance technology and practices. “It demonstrates that the company is well prepared for the future, building on its existing use of electric vehicles,” the operator adds. A fleet of 55 Yutong E12 zero-emission buses was delivered up to 2024.
“This achievement recognises that we operate an advanced workshop facility, supported by highly qualified engineering staff and fully compliant with the latest maintenance standards.”
Speaking about the platinum award, Engineering Manager Chris Morgan says: “These accreditations are a major achievement and an important milestone for Cardiff Bus. It confirms that we are operating to the highest standards set by the industry.
“This success is a testament to the hard work, professionalism and dedication of our engineering team, who continue to deliver excellent standards of maintenance every day.”
