Diamond Bus North West (DBNW) has been appointed a member of the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter, joining 90 other businesses in the region.

DBNW, which employs more than 800 staff across two sites in the city, is the first company that is solely a bus operator to gain the accolade, although rail and bus business Abellio UK is also a member.

The company received a plaque acknowledging the achievement from Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham.

The scheme is aimed at improving employing standards and the charter criteria offers secure work, flexible work, pay, engagement and voice, recruitment, people management and health and wellbeing.

Transport for Greater Manchester, Manchester City Council, Talk Talk and The Co-operative Bank are among the other companies on the membership list.

Emma Woods, Group Head of HR, who led DBNW’s application, says: “Becoming a member of the Greater Manchester Good Employment Charter is a real achievement and builds on a fantastic year for the company. I am delighted that we have been recognised for all our efforts to create and provide an exceptional environment for our team of employees.”

Matthew Rawlinson, Managing Director for Diamond Bus North West, adds: “Diamond Bus North West has been a major part of the Greater Manchester Transport Sector since 2015, we’ve grown from strength to strength and now employ over 800 staff across our two sites in Greater Manchester.

DBNW already offers several routes across Manchester and will operate one of the first franchised services when the network is passed back to local control in September.

Bob Dunn, Executive Director for Diamond Bus North West, says: “It is an honour that we are now a member of the Good Employment Charter. This highlights the dedication that all our team has put in to provide the high level of service that we do for the Greater Manchester region.”
