EvoBus (UK), the Coventry-based supplier of Mercedes-Benz-branded coaches and buses, will become Daimler Buses UK from mid-July.
The change forms part of the renaming of German parent EvoBus GmbH to Daimler Buses GmbH from 12 July. Such a move that will see the owning company and its subsidiaries in Europe “benefit from the brand’s awareness through all business units and underscore our affiliation with Daimler Truck at the same time,” a statement from EvoBus (UK) notes.
EvoBus service centres currently operated under the BusWorld Home brand will be renamed Daimler Buses Service Centers in the future.
The EvoBus umbrella brand was created 28 years ago by merging Mercedes-Benz Omnibusse and Kassbohrer Setra. It now has a workforce of around 10,000 and 13 subsidiaries in Europe, and is wholly owned by the Daimler Buses segment of Daimler Truck. The Daimler Buses identity is already used directly in some other global markets.
Speaking about the change, Daimler Buses CEO Till Oberwörder says that the EvoBus brand has “been very successful for almost three decades,” but that a new chapter will start under the Daimler Buses identity in Europe.
“We have a lot in store for ourselves; we want to lead the transformation of our industry to emission-free mobility and win over customers and talent. The new name will help us to achieve this because operating under the brand will mean that we won’t have to do much explaining,” is Mr Oberwörder’s bullish verdict.
