The Moorlands Connect minibus service has been saved thanks to a new arrangement between Staffordshire County Council and Ashbourne Community Transport (ACT).
The service should have ended on 1 April, but through third-party funding, a reduction to one minibus, and reshaping of times and fares, ACT will continue to operate it.
Says Mark Deaville, Cabinet Member for Commercial: “While it is impossible for taxpayers to continue to subsidise buses to the tune of £10 per head in some cases, we know that the Moorlands Connect is valued by local communities.
“We are pleased that third party funding has been secured for 2018/19.”
